New HP Mini 210 and 5103

New HP Mini 210 and 5103

I personally like HP’s netbooks, the keyboards, the trackpads and price etc.  It would be the first brand I would turn to for a netbook.  They have just released a new Mini 5103 and a refreshed Mini 210 which look just as good as any other.

The refreshed Mini 210, aimed at consumers, has had a redesign.  With 5 colors and a back that integrates the battery (like the older MacBook) but is removable.  It still has the amazing chiclet keyboard, and the trackpad with weird buttons.  It will start at $330 USD ($473 NZD) with a single core Atom CPU (an upgrade to the N550 processor will be available).

The new professional aimed Mini 5103 will be getting a dual-core 1.5GHZ processor, which HP says will improve performance by up to 20% without affecting battery life much.  It will cost $399 USD ($572 NZD) and will include HP’s Day Starter instant-on OS.  Unfortunately there is no Web-OS.  You can view the official photos here.

iWork Update allows exporting to ePub format

iWork update 4 has been released  and it “addresses issues in Keynote, Pages and Numbers, and adds export compatibility to Pages with the standard ePub file format”

ePub is the format iBooks and other popular ebook readers use for their books.  This allows you to create a file where the font can be changed, adjust text size etc from inside the reader.

I am currently downloading it and will post with what I think soon.

Texting World Record Broken

Texting World Record Broken

25.94 seconds.  Thats how long it takes Melissa Thompson from Salford, England to type “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”

This record was broken on a Galaxy S but the model is not known.  Before Thompson, Franklin Page of Seattle held the record, having typed the above sentence in 35.54 seconds earlier this year.

Please Note: This has not been officially confirmed Guinness.
