Scientists have created “Dry Powdered Water”

Scientists have created “Dry Powdered Water”

Scientists have created a product which is 95% water in a powdered form. They had actually discovered it in 1968 but hadn’t found a use for it until now. It turns out to be extremely effective at absorbing CO2 gas which is thought to contribute to the greenhouse effect.

The powder is known as “dry water” because it is 95% water but is a dry powder. Each particle contains a droplet of water encased by chemically modified silica, the material that sandis made of. the coating of silica stops the water from combining with other droplets and becoming a liquid. There’s also several other uses for dry water like, as jumpstarting reactions and providing a safe way to transport and store harmful waste and chemicals.

New Apple TV to support Apps

New Apple TV to support Apps

As some of you may have heard, There is a new Apple TV due to hit the market sometime next Fall (Spring in NZ). It will sport internals similar to the iPhone 4 (A4 CPU, 16GB of flash storage) and will probably cost around $99USD. The new Apple TV will not support 1080p because it is not possible to crank out video of that definition using the processor that will be used in it, so the video will be limited to 720p.

Apple will also be officially renaming the device to iTV to match their current range of iDevices.

But it’s not all bad news… That’s right the Apple TV is getting an app store!

It is not yet clear whether it will run off (and share apps with) the current iPhone, iPad and iPod app store or have separate apps but we will find out at the full unveil sometime in Fall (Spring in NZ)

We will keep you posted on any new information we hear of.
